Alise Polovnikova and Evgenia Polovnikova for their participation in the film

The work forms part of the Architecture-Body-Dance project, which was presented in Basel (Switzerland) and in Moscow (Russia).

“the 21st floor” focuses on the reciprocal influence of body and architectural space.
The film was shot during the 2nd Biennale of Contemporary Art in Moscow City, Federation Tower

The specific character of the venue, enhanced by the artworks on display, is perceived differently by each visitor. Like a child, whose perceptual barriers are minimal, the visitor bridges the gap between themselves and the space. If successful, the atmosphere and architecture of the place begin to alter the form and movement of the body, creating a dance that can be observed from both inside and outside.
The film was shot during the 2nd Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art.
The space of the Federation Tower was under construction at the time and whose floors had been set aside for the art exhibition, inspired the creation of the film.

For the shoot, Konstantin Grouss invited the young American cinematographer Josh Bryan, who effectively became a co-creator of the film.

The dancers – Tatiana Fateeva and Anastasia Oleynik – brought the idea to life.
The choreography is based on transforming the lines, patterns and colors found in the gallery’s space into movement. The form created by the dancers stretches out over time, and the camera makes it possible to trace these transformations from different angles.
