Site - The Apothecaries' Garden - The Botanical Garden of Moscow State University
Location - old lake
Ars Hortus Festival

The sculpture is located on the water surface of the lake and is a composition of 4 figures of dancers dressed in classical ballet tutus. The composition is poetically connected with the classical production of the ballet "Swan Lake", organically inscribed in the environment of the botanical garden and echoes its name of the garden - the Apothecaries'Garden. The figures have a light, almost invisible to the eye, dynamics due to the influence of water and wind.
Materials used -
  • Metal fittings
  • Plastic pipes
  • Rough fabric - burlap
  • Lightweight artificial filler
  • Classic ballerina costume - tutu, pointe shoes
  • Underwater base - concrete, metal

Sculpture

Dance in dynamic statics
Sculpture is a logical continuation of the dance, the opportunity to give it existence in another time and dimension. In my concept of working with a static form, the kinetic component is important, giving a feeling of variability and relation to the current moment

Variations

It so happened that the sculpture was executed in 2 variations during one exhibition.
Variation 1 lived on the lake for 3 weeks and, tragically repeating the idea of the famous ballet, died during a storm and a heavy downpour. It was sad and symbolic at the same time. The floating figures were reminiscent of Ophelia's tragedy.
I decided that our fairy tale would be with a happy continuation and over the next month I created Variation 2.
It was already a completely new composition that lived on the lake for 4 seasons.

Curiosity about life in all its aspects, I think, is still the secret of great creative people.
ZERO Dance Gallery
has been exploring this multidimensional world since 2002
Initially organized as a laboratory of contemporary dance "ZERO theater", the project develops its activities, combining various areas of art - contemporary dance, visual art, music.

Founder and artistic director of the "ZERO Dance Gallery" project - artist, dancer and choreographer Konstantin Grouss -
"Synthesizing Eastern and Western methods of thinking, I strive to combine powerful expression and inner silence in my works. Developing in different directions, I keep the starting point, as a place of quiescence where you can always return to go further .... maybe in a different direction "

The creative concept is based on the basic elements that underlie the dance - energy, rhythm, flow. The area of artistic interest lies at the intersection of the principles of choreography and visual art.

The main method is contemporary dance.
Place of foundation - Russia, Moscow
