Absolute synchronicity

"We dance all night, we dance all day.
It's rubbish only on air again.
But this isn't in vain!
Although no matter it may ... "

This work is performed in metal, but it is based on the principles used in choreography composition.

The complex construction assumes the simultaneous existence in different times:
  • short - performers,
  • medium-cyclical - video and
  • infinitely long - a sculpture made of metal, which previously covered the roof of the residency on which the sculpture is located.

Projections of figures dancing on the crest of the roof remain unchanged form while been in constant motion.
Wind makes metal pieces, frozen mirror of the performers themselves, rotate around the vertical axis simultaneously that in ordinary life of the performers is almost impossible. The work performs as a reflection of the performers.
The shape of metal figures emphasizes differences in the perception of movement. Figures react to the changes of the wind over the Guslitsa creative castle's roof and airflow directs them against the wind, while the natural movement of the performers is out of this relationship and cannot be absolutely synchronized.

The work was created in collaboration with Misha Humm for the exhibition "Horizontal" (curators Michael Plohotsky and Anna Tretyakov) within 6-th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, September 2015.

Sculpture

Dance in dynamic immobility
Sculpture is a logical continuation of the dance, the opportunity to give it existence in another time and dimension. In my concept of work with a static form, the kinetic component is important. It gives a feeling of variability and relation to the current moment.

Performance. May 2020

Curiosity about life in all its aspects, I think, is still the secret of great creative people.
ZERO Dance Gallery
has been exploring this multidimensional world since 2002
Initially organized as a laboratory of contemporary dance "ZERO theater", the project develops its activities, combining various areas of art - contemporary dance, visual art, music.

Founder and artistic director of the "ZERO Dance Gallery" project - artist, dancer and choreographer Konstantin Grouss -
"Synthesizing Eastern and Western methods of thinking, I strive to combine powerful expression and inner silence in my works. Developing in different directions, I keep the starting point, as a place of quiescence where you can always return to go further .... maybe in a different direction "

The creative concept is based on the basic elements that underlie the dance - energy, rhythm, flow. The area of artistic interest lies at the intersection of the principles of choreography and visual art.

The main method is contemporary dance.
Place of foundation - Russia, Moscow
